MEET THE TEAM

BEHIND THE CROSSING

Nima Ameli

Director/Script Writer

As the director of project, I have to oversee the whole thing from beginning to the end. I have never done a project this big before. I have never hired professional actors before. So for me as a new director, this for me was a big challenge for my determination to see the project through the very end. I had to also go through many changes mental and physical during these past 3 months. I had to go out my comfort in order to get this project done. I am so happy that I had the chance and privileged to work with these amazing talented individuals. I will be so happy to work with them in the future.

Valentin Gallone

Editor/Camera/ Light

What makes me tick as a cameraman is the notion of being able to capture highly emotional moments. A good cameraman needs to possess the artistic eye of a director, as well as a scientific understanding of the technology and conditions. It's also essential to love people. Whereas many careers in the creative arts involve working alone, a cameraman has to operate as a team with its attendant stresses and compromises. On the other hand, being an editor is something that I prefer in the film industry. First of all, I like doing this alone, because you can only count on yourself to do something right. Second of all, the frustration to assemble pieces of video together, cut, edit and re-edit becomes a thing of the past when overcome by this intense feeling of joy once the movie is finally produced. This has been even stronger for my first short, "The Crossing" by Nima Ameli, as this was the longest edit I've ever made. Overall, I would say that I am really happy with this project, and I am looking forward to start my next film!

Lars Ruizveld

Editor/Camera/Light

I like to make films for a living, especially as cameraman. When a script is given, I see almost immediately what the scriptwriter is 'seeing'. The same counts when I'm working as editor. When someone asks me to color correct and grade some footage, most of the times I find the right colors for the composition. It's an amazing job to do, and it feels so good when you deliver the final film/project.

Titus Franssen

Sound & Engineer

Titus Franssen is our amazing sound Engineer who has been recording the audio on set. He has also been working on recording the folly for the film. He has also been focusing very hard in cleaning the audio and dialog.
I very happy that he is apart of my team.

Quincy Speelman

Sound & Engineer

Quincy Speelman is our amazing Sound & Engineer. He was also recording the audio, folly, and he was in charge of developing the music that will capture the tone and essence of the film. I very happy that he is apart of my team.

Colin Langenberg

Script Writer

Colin Langenberg is a screenwriter, director and voice actor currently working in Amsterdam. Asked about his process for writing 'The Crossing', he replied: "For me writing a film is always down to structure and rhythm. You need to make sure that your characters respond to one another, react to one another, in a way that feels natural. Failing to do this means your dialogue will sound stilted, and your characters' actions unmotivated. I was approached by the director of 'The Crossing', Nima Ameli, to develop a script based on a brief outline he sent me. He was gracious enough to allow me significant artistic freedom when developing the characters, and was very open to suggestions for developing the story. My favorite part of developing the film was seeing the character of Dr. Christo come alive on the screen. I had a blast writing him, and Abel Sanders performed the role to perfection."

Abel Sanders

Actor - Dr. Frank Chrsito

If you are looking for a professional actor who delivers on demand the performance that you seek, then I am the right man for this job. Admittedly, I may not be entirely 100% objective here (....). However, if we regard actors and actresses as instruments through whom you can tell the story and your vision precisely the way you want it to be told - then I'd be delighted to make my contribution as an actor to achieve just that, and to serve your storytelling goals.

Andrew Vandaele

Actor - Nick Santos

It was really a pleasure
I could do the thing i can as a method actor
I had some freedom and creativity
"In professional production" you have to do what they say
And in that way I never can show my skills
And i must say: the new international sitcom, i also get my freedom. Also thanks to you because my audition was f**** great. It was just after the shooting and i had a lot of confidence.

Soraya Wunnink

Actor - The Nurse

I think it's important to let people experience something that they are affected or that something is released which creates movement.

In 2010 I graduated as a Musical Theatre Performer at ArtEZ (Arnhem). Then I now mainly on playing my focus on what wanderings as a teacher and singer. I keep therefore deepen through workshops and master classes in the art.

Sally Abdelrazek

Actor

Sally Abdelrazek plays the role of a police officer. Unfortunately her scenes had to be cut from the film because it didn't seem to flow well with the overall tone of the movie. I am very happy to work with her in the future.

Tommy van Merode

Actor

Tommy van Merode plays the role of a police officer. Unfortunately his scenes had to be cut from the film because it didn't seem to flow well with the overall tone of the movie. I am very happy to work with him in the future.

Merel Heinis

Actor

Merel Heinis plays the role of Nicks Wife. She is also the girlfriend of Andrew Vandaele. So I cast her to be Nicks wife because then the characters will have more chemistry on set and on film. I am very satisfied with what she could do without any dialog. I am looking forward to work with her in the future.

Thank you for viewing our website! We will be truly grateful if you could support our movie in order to make a sequel, and hopefully a feature film.
